What is Latisse®?

Latisse® is a prescription treatment solution that helps increase eyelash growth. While other eyelash growth treatments exist in the market, Latisse® is the only treatment approved by the FDA for growing fuller, longer, and darker eyelashes. Latisse® is derived from Lumigan, a drug commonly used to treat glaucoma. Along with its active ingredient, bimatoprost, Latisse® helps increase the duration of the eyelash growth phase, which stimulates growth. When Latisse® is used daily, patients can see gradual results starting at 4 weeks with full growth occurring at 16 weeks. Once a patient has begun treatment, it is recommended they continue to apply the growth solution each night to receive the best results. If a patient stops treatment, their lashes may slowly return to their original condition.

Darker Lashes

Studies show patients who use Latisse® as prescribed can see up to an 18% increase in lash darkness and fullness.

What to Expect During a Latisse® Treatment

Once Dr. Iskander or his colleagues determine you are a candidate for Latisse®, you’ll receive a prescription for the eyelash growth solution. Like most beauty routines, Latisse® works best when used consistently. To use Latisse®, make sure your face is clean and free of makeup. If you wear contacts, make sure to remove them before treatment. Apply a drop of Latisse® solution to the tip of the applicator brush. Next, swipe the brush across the upper eyelashes like you would apply eyeliner, and use a tissue to remove any excess solution. To prevent infection, grab another applicator brush at this point and repeat the process on the other eye. Be sure to only use the solution on the upper lashes, and avoid having the applicator touch surfaces that may contaminate it with bacteria. Continue applying the solution for the prescribed amount of time, usually up to 16 weeks
